It's Not You, It's...No, Wait, It's You

While most of Glamour’s article about “How Facebook, Twitter and Gchat can Ruin Your Relationship” is incredibly obvious, there are a few dos and don’ts that people need to be more aware of. For example…

DON’T post your make-out photos.

A PDA can be nauseating when you witness it on the street, but online, it can be downright destructive. If you do feel the need to share your potentially inappropriate pictures with your man, do everyone a favor and upload them to a private album on a photo-sharing website like Flickr. Trust us, he’ll appreciate the gesture, and you’ll be glad you did when potential employers go poking around on your MySpace page.

Isn’t this obvious?!  Apparently not, because every once and awhile I see my Facebook “friends” making out with their boyfriends/girfriends on my homepage.  It’s gross!  I’m all in favor of making out, but please do it in the privacy of your own home and do not allow me to see pictures of it.

DON’T use status updates to publicize every stage of your relationship.

We don’t have any definitive proof, but we’re pretty sure some of Hollywood’s biggest breakups may have been casualties of overexposure (hello, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, Carmen and Dave, Travis and Shanna…). And locker-room gossip aside, your guy probably wants a little privacy too. Dating expert David Wygant adds, “We all know that you are telling your friends everything, but we really don’t want the world to know.”
Along the same lines as the make-out pictures, why do people always want to tell everyone on the internet about their relationship?  I feel like I know EVERY little detail about this couple I went to high school with.  The girl always has emo statuses referencing how much she loves her boyfriend.  I read the updates and cringe.  Why does she feel the need to publicize her feelings?!  There is an epidemic of over-sharing on the internet, especially about relationships.
